About Me

Breakfast in Bed(stuy)

“Until I discovered cooking, I was never really interested in anything.”— Julia Child

Hello! My name is Kati (rhymes with ‘Scotty’) – though everyone I meet calls me ‘Katie’ at least once, much to my chagrin. I’m a twenty-five year old with an insatiable appetite for everything food related.

Originally from Maryland, I traded crab cakes for New England Clam Chowder and shipped up to Boston. Graduating from Emerson College, having studied television editing, I moved to New York to pursue a career in food and travel media.

Whether at work or in my spare time, my life revolves around food. I’m constantly browsing recipes; dining at new restaurants; devouring chef memoirs and cookbooks; and cooking and baking just for the hell of it. I got some wacky culinary  plans up my sleeve — DIY Bacon anyone? — and I’m pushing myself to learn new techniques and work with unique ingredients as much as possible. And professionally, I spend my days vicariously living (and eating) through our hosts who travel the world exploring different cuisines and cultures.  Let’s just say, I’m a really big foodie, if you haven’t gotten that yet!

International cuisine is definitely a passion of mine. I’m currently working my way through a culinary journey around the world, cooking up a dish from every country. Check out my progress!

I’m also lucky enough to eat at some great restaurants around New York City. And I’m constantly adding to my list of places to try out next! Have any recommendations? Let me know!

Thanks for checking out my blog and following my adventures in cooking!  This morning I’m having “Breakfast in Bedstuy,” but who knows where I’ll end up for dinner?
