Sunday Brunch: Breakfast Sandwiches

There is little in this world that I love more than a good breakfast sandwich. Most of my Saturdays aren’t complete without a cup of coffee and one of these bad boys. Sausage, egg and cheese is my go to!

While I prefer my local coffee shop, who makes a mean breakfast sandwich on a bagel to order, I’ve been known to partake in the Dunkin Donuts variety as well.. I’m not proud of it, but in a pinch a flaky croissant with processed sausage, eggs and cheese, hits the spot!

But despite my love for breakfast sandwiches, I never make them at home! And so, for today’s breakfast in bed(stuy), a killer breakfast sandwich that will hit that Sunday morning spot!

I decided to go with my tried and true breakfast sandwich favorite… sausage, egg and cheese on a toasted roll. I spiced it up a bit though with a slice of colby jack cheese. I like to live adventurously, what can I say?

I love the fatty, greasy sausage, the sharp bit of the cheese with the creamy texture of the fried egg with the crunch of the toasted, buttery roll. I could live on breakfast sandwiches alone!

And while this sandwich is delicious, I recently came across an LA-based company, Egg Slut, that has some amazing variations on the classic egg sandwich and maybe the best name I’ve ever heard for a restaurant. (This might beat the egg-centric Montreal restaurant, Eggspectation, that I still day dream about).

I think I might have died and gone to heaven. As much as GTR, my bff all the way out in LA, is a major perk of moving to LA, this breakfast eatery might actually be the tipping point. These sandwiches look AMAZING!
And so, I had to try the Fairfax combination — with the addition of sircha mayo and carmelized onions. Holy egg sandwich Batman, this is delicious!

If I spent the rest of my life, sampling breakfast sandwiches from around the country, I’d die a happy lady.
