This past weekend, I spent a couple days on the tip of Cape Cod in Provincetown MA with the Turk. We had an amazing time, hanging out, cooking, drinking and celebrating, all the while in this gorgeous, spacious house! It’s hard to describe it all and it still hasn’t fully sunk in that we even went… It was as close to a perfect vacation as you can get! Start to finish perfection!
Provincetown holds a lot of memories for me. I started vacationing there every summer with my family around the age of two or four. I haven’t been back in five or six years so needless to say this trip was a bit nostalgic. Some things had changed and some were exactly the same as I’d remembered. I know it like the back of my hand and it’s always felt like home.
But I came to P-town this trip at 23 in a very different context – this time old enough to drink, alone without my family, in an area of town I’ve never stayed in. It was familiar enough, but new at the same time. We went to the beach. We ate at some of my favorite restaurants. We took the ferry to and from Boston. And I was able to see the P-town I know and love through new eyes. What more can a girl ask for?
And while I wish I was eloquent enough to share specific memories or wax poetically about how much this town meant to me, snapshots from over the years will have to suffice. And they not mean anything to you, but I hope at least you see P-town’s magic and beauty, because man, oh, man it’s a funky little town that I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed!
And of course, more on the fabulous meals we had in a few days! In the meantime, back to the grind…
